Overpass you can build a product on
The public Overpass instances are a great community service, but they are shared by everyone and rate-limited. overpass.ch gives your application its own quota, predictable limits and data that is minutes old.
Minutely updates
Changes made on OpenStreetMap appear within minutes. The current data timestamp is in every response and on our status page.
Full planet, metadata, areas
The whole world with versions, timestamps, changesets and users, plus area[…] queries for administrative boundaries.
Long-running queries
Up to 10 minutes per query and 2 GiB of memory on the Large plan, for country-wide extracts that time out elsewhere.
Drop-in compatible
Standard Overpass QL and XML. Point Overpass Turbo, JOSM, QGIS QuickOSM, osmnx or overpy at your personal URL and you are done.

Questions
Where does the data come from?
From OpenStreetMap, © OpenStreetMap contributors, under the Open Database Licence (ODbL). If you publish results, credit OpenStreetMap as the licence requires. Every response carries the copyright notice.
What counts as a request?
Every successful interpreter call (HTTP 2xx), including answers served from our 60-second cache. Errors and rejected requests do not count against your quota.
What happens when I reach my quota?
Requests return HTTP 429 with a clear message until the next month starts or you upgrade. We never bill overage automatically.
Can I change or cancel my plan?
Yes, any time in your dashboard. Upgrades take effect immediately and are prorated; cancellations take effect at the end of the paid period.
Do you offer invoices and VAT IDs?
Yes. Invoices are available in the billing portal and you can add your company name, address and VAT ID at checkout.
Is this the official Overpass API?
No. overpass.ch is an independent hosting service running the open-source Overpass API software. It is not affiliated with the OpenStreetMap Foundation.
